With all the keratin straightening procedures out there, no wonder all the frizzy,curly haired girls (and guys) feel as though they’ve found their answer. This fantastic process reduced frizz, eliminates excessive flat ironing/blowdrying and provides long lasting results that fade out over time.
However, we sill get a lot of requests for more permanent ways to keep their mane frizz free. Of course, the Japanese straightening has been popular among those who wanted their hair straightened permanently, but many of them felt that it was not only straight – it was stick straight with no life or luster to their hair.
The Bio-Ionic retex system is the more conditioning version of the permanently straightening processes. It keeps your hair silky and straight, not broom-like. The many minerals in the system retexturizes the hair in a very conditioning way. ITt is safe on colored hair, even on highlighted hair. And like with any other chemical service offered at salons, if the stylist was uncertain about the integrity of the hair, a strand test could be 
performed to analyze the hair. It could work on precioiusly straightened hair too. There are some exceptions including hair that was previously straightened with sodium hydroxide, guanudune carbonate, calcium hydroxide/alcium oxide blend, or with lye (lithium hydroxide) straighteners. I have also had some bad experiences with hair that has been colored with metallic dyes which are often sold at grocery stores.
The straightening process takes about 3-4 hours. We clarify your hair with a Bio-Ionic clarify shampoo and apply protective products according to the state that your hair is in. After that we apply the chemical solution, and depending on the hair, it processes for maximum of 45 minutes. After we rinse that out thoroughly, we blow dry it and flat iron the hair in fine sections using our Bio-Ionic blow dryer and flatiron. Then we apply the neutralizing cream for 5-7 minutes and rinse it out. After rinsing for 10 minutes, we dry it and you are done! You have to take care of it for 72 hours before you shampoo it to keep it dry and untied, so no marks or dents will be created on the hair. These 72 hours are very important because the hair molecules are bonding to their new form. After you shampoo it, you could do whatever you want with it. It’s just these three days that you need to be cautious.
You can also color hair after this process, but it is very much recommended that you wait at least two weeks.
Usually the maintence to come back for retouches will depend on your personal preference and hair texture. Many of my clients come back for root retouchs every 8 months to a year. They all rave about the hair that they don’t have to fuss with it which translates into more time to sleep in the morning and less time to get glamorous for a big event! And many of them love being on vacation and not having to deal with their hair for half of it.
