Malibu Times Magazine

This is the second partnership with Malibu Times Magazine for Aubrey.  This time he worked with Rosie Fuentes (an amazingly talented stylist and make-up artist) who provided gorgeous natural tones to both Jane Leeves and Navi Rawat.  Aubrey also brought his favorite Fashion Stylist, Devon Poer, who did a fantastic job matching outfits with our subjects.

Thank you, Sean, for all of your faith in our team.  We enjoy working with you every time.

Please enjoy the images!

ELSA ELIZABETH
in Her DNA.

After training at Toni & Guy, this adorable Northern California native joined the team at Santa Monica’s trendy salon, DNA where she performs magic with your hair.  Astonishingly talented and charming, Elsa specializes in women’s haircuts, and natural looking highlighting and color.  She’s a pro at the potent Brazilian keratin treatment that strengthens your hair, adds luster, banishes frizz and brings it back to life.

“Don’t ever be afraid to question your stylist,” she says.  “People can feel a little intimidated especially when trying something new but never hesitate to discuss ideas with your stylist or to bring in pictures that help convey your ideas.”

At DNA, where first timers and referrers are given a 20% discount, Elsa uses high quality products including Wella color and Bumble and Bumble products.  But the top asset at this boutique salon where they also have a charming fashion accessories corner benefiting men and women previously disenfranchised by Apartheid, is definitely Elsa herself.  Her passion for putting a smile on your face is both disarming and refreshing in an industry where hairstylists have developed star-status.

“My advice would be to find a stylist that really listens and when in doubt, ask, because in the end we are here to service you.  If you don’t leave feeling great then I don’t feel like I did my job.”

Kao Pao Shu Has Los Angeles in Stitches

We are extremely proud to present our friend and our client, Naida Begeta, a fantastic designer with her workshop (and home) currently based in Santa Monica.  Her clothes are innovative and modern, combining the relaxed comfort of Santa Monica with the romantic flare of Italy/Milan and the fantastical shapes of Japan.

We’ve had the great fortune of working with her and look forward to a long career together.  Check out the article below!

Extensions

Extensions are a great way to add volume, length, color, or even a combination of all to your own hair. There are various types of extension methods used in salons today, all having pros and cons. The Flashpoint (I-Tip) method that I offer to clients is an easy way to add volume and length without the use of any chemicals or glues.

Application: The extensions are applied using a unique cold application method that uses micro links (tubes) to bond the extension hair with the natural hair.

•    The tube is fed onto the natural hair

•    The extension is then fed into the tube along with the natural hair

•    Ensuring the hair and extension are following the natural growth pattern, the tube is then shut and secured

•    The process is completely painless and should take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours to complete

Removal: The Flashpoint extensions must be removed using a special tool to open up the tubes. Once the tubes are open, I just simply slide out the extension and remove the tube. (If the hair is still in good condition you can re-apply the same hair using new tubes.)

Things you should know about the I-Tip method:

•    You must have a consultation before scheduling an appointment for the extensions to get proper care  instructions and determine color, length, texture, and sectioning pattern.

•    The hair we use is 100% human hair and can be treated as such.

•    The extensions can last about 3 months before maintenance is required. The hair can last about 6 months before new hair is required. (This is just an estimation, hair growth is different for everyone and timing will vary)

•    The hair will feel a bit tight the first 2 to 3 days and then become very comfortable and even un-noticable.

•    Your extension appointment must also include a haircut to blend natural hair to the extensions.
