I've always had a passion for doing hair ever since I cut my first Bob on my favorite doll, so it wasn't a great surprise to my family when I enrolled myself @the Toni & Guy Hairdressing academy. I made the big move out here from BEAUTIFUL Northern CA, in 2007 and have been here since! I love everything about this industry, the creativity, the freedom to express yourself, and, help others express themselves as well, the constant education and evolving styles! I look forward to every chance I get to put a smile on someones face, and that's the best part of this industry!

He’s an extremely social 7yr old red tabby. He enjoys sleeping in the sunlight, laying in your lap, chicken, playing with anything that crunches and crinkles, but most of all being pet.

He’s a professional sleeper…

Recently most requested Celebrity hair….

Everyone has their favorite celebrity “look”, one of the most popular haircuts of all time is the “Rachel” worn by the beautiful Jennifer Aniston on the T.V show Friends (one of my personal fave shows btw) and although many women flaunted this cut, nowadays it would look dated.

If you’re like most people who like to stay updated on new hair trends but are struggling to find your new “Rachel” I would love to share with you several pictures that Ive been seeing in my chair lately.

Vitoria Beckhams long angled bob and her highlights

Bradley Coopers “Hangover” haircut.

Jessica Biel’s and Rachel Bilson’s Ombre haircolor also known as “faded ends” or “grown out roots” have been a constant request this year and is only picking up even more popularity.

Jennifer Lopez Long Layers

Zac Efron’s Buzz Cut

Dianna Agron’s layered bob and heavy side-swept bangs.

I hope this helps inspire some of you to find your new look.

7 Deadly sins in Haircare… #2

Brush and Towel Abuse.

Remember these words… HAIR IS MOST VULNERABLE WHEN WET.

So here’s a few tips on how to help prevent many split ends and breakage. After a nice warm shower youre refreshed and ready to go, if you’re like most women you’re in a rush, and the first thing you want to do is rough your hair up with a towel,  dry off as much as you can, and run your brush roots to ends to detangle…. sounds harmless but in reality you’re actually stretching, and damaging your delicate locks.

When hair is wet its soft, and stretchable. The least amount of tension and stress you put on it the better.

The first step to drying and detangling your hair correctly starts in the shower. After you’ve shampooed your hair you want wring it out and get rid of excess water before you apply the conditioner, lightly on the roots, and saturate the ends. Let sit for at least 30 seconds, now this is your opportunity to get most if not all of your tangles out by running your fingers through your ends.

When out of the shower, instead of roughing up the ends to “towel dry” your hair try wrapping and or blotting it.

If after all this your hair is still tangled, I highly recommend using a detangler throughout, and using a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush. Start detangling at the ends of your hair, before you work your way up, you want to be able to glide your comb through to ensure its all smoothed out.

and……Voila!!  Your hair is now detangled, partially towel dried, and ready to be set or styled in whichever way you choose, with a lot less stress and breakage. Make these few steps part of your grooming regiment and you’ll see the little extra tender loving care will be noticed.

:)

Why I LOVE Tim Burton.

Tim Burton is probably (in my opinion) one of the most creative minds of all time. His work has been inspiring me for as long as I can remember. A lot of my favorite movies growing up were The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, etc…

Fantasy Hair and makeup have always inspired me and in a lot of ways fueled my passion for this industry.   Tim Burtons movies are basically my form of eye candy. So for those of you who are not familiar with his work let me show you just a sneak peek into what hes done to inspire me, and for those of you who are already fans, lets reminisce.

I cant really pick a favorite (since I love them ALL!!)  So here it goes….

I am in love with Tim Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland. Probably one of the best fantasy hair and makeup Ive seen in a while, and Tim Burton style.

My favorite Superhero is Batman, and a lot of that is due to watching Batman Returns when I was little and falling in love with Catwoman (not the Halle berry version, which was a huge disappointment by the way).  Also Penguin is my fave villain, other than The Joker and The riddler of course ;)

My “Prince Charming” growing up wasnt quite so charming at all, actually he was quite odd and strange. But i fell in love with the man with scissorhands nonetheless… the one and only, Edward scissorhands…. and did I mention he cut hair too!!

Since were on the topic of Tim Burtons hair master’s, who can forget Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet street. Absolutely AMAZING movie. Who knew old Johnny Depp could sing?? This one just cries ENCORE!! ENCORE!! ( I know, I know, I cant help it, I told you I loved these movies )

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice….. need I say more ;)

Last but most definitely not least, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This one is just plain fun and will never get old.

Hope you all enjoyed,  THANK YOU!!
