I absolutely love every form of hair extensions, specially, clip-in hair extensions! As a hairstylist I have to say that it is the best alternative for girls who have medium to long hair and would love to have long and full locks for a day or two without the maintanance of individual hair extensions. It is also an alternative for brides who cannot wait for the growing out process and wish to have long and full hair on their wedding day.
Clip-in extensions come in a variety of colors and lengths to match accordingly to your wants. They are not damaging to your hair and are absolutely low maintenance in the sense that they are very easy to clip in the hair as well as take out. Depending on your consultation, how many rows of hair clip-in extensions you need for length, fullness, or both will be determined by your stylist. Generally, for length, two rows of clip-ins will be needed; for fullness, three rows will be needed; for both, four rows will be needed.
Clip-in hair extensions can be a very low maintenance alternative to long and full hair if the maintanance and care of your clip-ins are left to your stylist’s hands and not your own. Here are very helpful hints of what not to do with your clip-in extensions:
try not to place them in your hair yourself. Instead have your stylist place and remove your clip-in extensions each time to avoid tangling and tenderness at the placement area. This helps to ensure that the clips are placed right so that they last you.
I recommend not to wear them for more than two or three days as this will cause tangling, tenderness, and a slight bald spotting of the clip-in area.
try not to wash or condition them yourself. This will cause loosening and breakage of the hair and thread that hold the clips and extensions together, causing a repair or replacement expense in your pocket.
Are you a good candidate for clip-in extensions? It depends on how thick your hair is. If your hair is very fine to fine, I wouldn’t recommend them because it will cause breakage of your own hair. If you have normal to thick hair, I would recommend them because it will have no breaking affect on your hair.
Wow, what a couple of months of hair transformations it has been for me. I went from having long shoulder length hair to completely taking it shorter on my right side and having a shag on the rest. I also changed my color from a brunette to a dark blond and back to a brunette. Why take so many risks with my hair you may ask.
Well, I wrote a blog a couple of months ago about how we view ourselves in a mirror. How even something as simple as changing your part from the right to left or the other way around, will change your view and others in a mirror.
I have reached the end of my journey with this theory and realized that if I had not drastically cut and changed the color of my hair I would have never known what I really wanted to see in the mirror and what my hairdresser wanted me to see in that same mirror. We decided that I would look better with a fun, dark, long, and disconnected look, which matches better with my personality.
Guys listen up! Your significant others are starting to take a notice on your appearance more than you know. More than 80% of my clientele that is in a relationship say that they wish their men would cut, trim, shave, and upkeep their hair more than they do.
So, when do you know it is time for a haircut, a trim of the beard, or a clean up just around the neck for example. Trust that your hairstylist will normally let you know when it will be time to see you again but just in case life gets in the way let me guide you guys through an easy monthly checklist to upkeep your look.
Typically after four weeks of your last haircut you will notice your hair will be unmanagable and difficult to style. It is time for a haircut.
If the hair where the curve occurs from the top of the head to the sides of the head is too heavy, long, or sticking out, it is time for a haircut.
If the hairline around the ears and neck are starting to curl but the haircut is still to your liking then you just need a cleanup to tighten up those spots. But, if allof it is starting to curl into an unruly mess it is time for a haircut.
If noticible and unruly hair is visibly occuring on your eyebrows or earlobe area make sure to get a trim everytime you see your stylist.
Hopefully these simple guidelines will help you keep visually presentable to the girl or guy in your life.
A client of mine brought to my attention how even if we were both looking at her through the same mirror at the salon, she will still see herself in a different way than I do at the end of her service.
It was so interesting to me how I never really thought about how a mirror really plays such an important role in our lives. She also told me about how at the seminar she went to they asked each person how many times a day they look at themselves in the mirror and how that determines how much you care about what people think of you.
So, as a hairstylist who is infront of the mirror almost all day, I took it upon myself to create my own hypothesis on this theory beginning with cutting my hair short and looking at myself in the mirror along with what others see. I will continue blogging on my everyday so that at the end I can conclude on my theory so stay posted!
