Audrey Kawasaki’s Opening Reception

One of my favorite artists and inspiring influences is a Japanese American woman named Audrey Kawasaki. Her work depicts sensuous young women on wood panels, with a strong emphasis on line quality and facial expression.

Audrey will be showing her new paintings here in Los Angeles CA at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery this summer. The opening reception will take place on July 3oth 2011 from 8pm to 11pm. The exhibit will run through August 27th 2011. I highly recommend checking out her work if you are not already a fan. Hope to see you there!

Extend Your Life – Extend Your Hair!

Have you ever wanted long hair but don’t have the patience to watch it grow?
Is your hair on the finer side and you dream of full luscious locks?
Are you growing your hair from short to long and the process has become difficult?

The answer to your desires lies within the wonderful world of hair extensions.

Hair extensions are the hottest item of today’s beauty industry. We can’t all be blessed with long, thick, perfect hair, but we can create the illusion that we are.

Having extensions myself and plenty of experience giving them to others, I can say that they will change not only your look but also your confidence. Here are some of the questions that I am frequently asked about extensions:

Am I a good candidate for hair extensions?

The best way to assess your individual situation is to come in for a free consultation.  Depending on the length and strength of natural hair there are many options that can be considered to achieve the result that one wants without compromising your own hair.

Can someone tell if I am wearing extensions?

Anything artificial that is attached to the hair can look fake if not camouflaged properly. It depends on the correct amount of hair that is needed and the placement of each individual extension. The techniques that I use are guarenteed to achieve the best aesthetic appearance for your extensions.

Can I color my extensions?

It is possible to color extensions but not recommended. Since extensions come in all colors and textures, it is better to color your natural hair first, and then properly pick out an exact extension match.

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

The teqnique that I do in our salon is individual tips which I find to be the least damaging to the natural hair. No glue or hot tools are involved. The other important factor to ensuring the health of your natural hair is to properly maintain your beautiful new investment. I promise to personally teach you how to brush your extensions correctly, how to wear them while sleeping, how to properly heat style and blowdry your long locks.

How long will my extensions last?

They can last up to 16 weeks depending on how well you care of them but I personally recommend getting them adjusted after 8 to 12 weeks due to natural shedding of hair. If you take care of your extensions the hair can be used a second time so you will not have to spend additional money on the actual hair until your third adjustment.

How much do extensions cost?

The cost all depends on how much hair is needed to achieve the desired result, color of hair, and time it will take to perform the service. I always prefer to do a consultation before giving a quote since everyone’s hair and desired results are different. Keep in mind that there are always options and avenues to stay within your budget.

Call today for your free consultation.  You can reach me at 323-930-0700 at our Beverly Location.

This is what you can look forward to in 2011!!!!!

Walk On The Wild Side This Spring.

This season is all about springing forward in the fashion and style world. Spring trends will be bright and wild. The idea is to make the trends rather than follow them.

Fashion will be all bout revival and evolution. We will be seeing everything from gothic, grunge, punk, and military to motorcycle chic looks.

It is time to embrace 2011, and trade up that natural look for something a bit edgier. Put a little drama into your hairstyle to match that stand out wardrobe.

My top five spring forward hairstyles are as follows:

1. Fringe:  Heavy fringe is still in. The umbrella bang which is slightly longer on the sides gives a 70’s rocker edge and can become your best accessory. The long swoop will also be in this season. Pinning a long fringe with a fun hair piece can be a simple trick to create a sexy flare.

2. Deep side parts:  We have been digging on side parts for some time now but we will be crushing them this season because of their versatility. They are great on sleek, textured, short, or long hair.

3. Short punky cuts: Punk inspired cuts will be hot this spring. Its been long, long, hair for way too long. Disheveled drama with popping haircolor looks a little rowdy which is what will get noticed.

4. Texture: Lots of texture. Sticky curls, messy braids, crimped ponytails, and nesty up styles.

5. Head turning hair Color: This is last but certainly not least. No matter what hairstyle or cut you are sporting it will mean nothing without beautiful shiny color. Ombre and balayage will be even hotter this spring than it was in the fall. The teqnique will not only be used for natural sun kissed affects but also for dramatic contrast.
